Front-end Web Developer / Indie Game Maker

What have you done?

I've worked on several different projects, but here are some of my favorites, hand picked by me for you.

Web

Adler Planetarium Website

Adler Planetarium

Near the end of my internship at the Adler Planetarium, I also worked heavily on the redesign of the planetarium's website. In particular, I worked primarily on the content of the website, formatting much of it and writing some of it entirely on my own.

At the same time, I worked on many webchanges for their existing website, ranging from writing a few lines of code to figuring out what mysterious issues were plaguing a section of the site after we went through a server migration. Check out the Adler Planetarium Website

IBEX Data Collection System

IBEX Data Collection System

While I was working on the Education and Public Outreach team for the NASA IBEX mission, we needed a tool to help us collect, aggregate, and track audience penetration data which we needed to report to NASA.

What I came up with was an easy-to-use system that allowed science educators and museum professionals around the world to not only give us the audience data we needed (such as the amount of adults or children in the audience, quantities of certain items that were being distributed, and where the event was held), but also to schedule events in advance and request materials to be delivered to them.

Games

Tetroid

Tetroid

Tetroid is a game that was developed by Caleb Eberhardt and myself over a few months for the 2008 Retro Remakes Competition, sponsored by Retro Remakes. The central mechanic of the game is that of your blaster (which, as you will soon notice, is very different from Samus' original blaster), which can fire Tetris blocks that not only hurt enemies but also can be used to solve puzzles and traverse the gameworld. Note: To my knowledge, Tetroid will only run on Microsoft Windows.

Tralos

Tralos

Tralos was my first foray into working with Gamemaker. Developed as a team for a class (back when I was still in the Game Development Major at DePaul), I served as the project lead and artist. My duties included coming up with ideas, animating, delegating work, and making sure that progress was being made. Dealing with every one of these became an intense balancing act, but those skills have all helped me develop into the person I am today. Download Tralos
